CBD Education
Hong Kong is leading the Asia Pacific region in CBD regulation, and CBD in Hong Kong is completely legal.
However, it is important to note that THC, a different compound present in the hemp and marijuana plant is not legal in Hong Kong.
Creature Comforts CBD tinctures are certified THC free and fully tested.
It is importnant to note some products in the market (often called "Broad Spectrum" or "Full Spectrum" CBD) to contain traces of THC, and are not legal. You should only purchase a product that is based on CBD Isolate, such as Creature Comforts CBD tinctures, and is certified THC-free.
Creature Comforts CBD products are certified THC-free and are completely legal for use by pet owners and veterinarians in Hong Kong. They are classified as supplements, and are not registered as drugs or medicines. They can be sold over the counter without prescription.
Creature Comforts CBD tinctures are specially formulated formulas with an MCT oil base, CBD Isolate, and Vitamin E. Creature Comforts is launching with The Wellness Oil and will have three more tinctures to market in 2021. In the rest of our line sometimes other beneficial cannaboinoids and supportive ingredients will be included. Each batch is always individually tested free of pesticides, heavy metals and toxins.
CBD has been shown to support homeostasis and balance, through it's effects on the cannabinoid receptors. CBD is often used as a general supportive supplement for healthy pets, and has been scienfically shown to support joint health, sleep, skin health and general wellbeing. That being said, if your pet is thriving, enjoy them as much as possible.
CBD Information
CBD is a type of cannabinoid, a natural plant supplement derived from the hemp plant. It was first extracted from the plant in 1940. Since then, research into CBD and other similar cannabinoids has continued, and the scale of benefits is just unfolding rapidly.
Cannabinoids work by acting on the body’s endocannabinoid system, a network of receptors used for signaling and homeostasis in the body. Animals (and humans) have two types of endocannabinoid receptors: CB1 (primarily found in the nervous system and brain) and CB2 (found in immune related organs such as the spleen and lymph nodes).
Different cannabinoids vary in their affinity for each type of receptor, with CB1 activity resulting in the calming and anti- anxiety effects, and CB2 activity resulting in immune modulating and anti-inflammatory effects.
Creature Comforts CBD formulations have been specifically designed by our research team to target these receptors, with a cannabinoid blend tailored to have a balanced and functional effect on the body. And in case you were wondering, its THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) that creates a high sensation, not CBD. CBD won’t get people or pets high ever, no matter how much is used.
CBD is extracted from the hemp plant as a raw oil and then refined and purified. CBD oil with little purification is called Full Spectrum or Broad Spectrum, but this is illegal in many countries as it contains traces of THC, the cannabis compound which has a narcotic ("high") effect. CBD isolate is much more highly purified to eliminate THC.
Creature Comforts CBD tinctures use ultra-pure CBD isolate, blended with other beneficial cannabinoids and supportive compounds, and certified free of THC. This is very important, as some other product in the market do have low levels of THC and are illegal in many countries.
Marijuana and hemp are both types of cannabis, but they are different varieties. Marijuana contains high levels of THC, a psychoactive compound that is illegal or controlled in many countries.
Hemp, on the other hand, has very low levels of THC, but high levels of beneficial cannabinoids such as CBD and other terpenes. Creature Comforts CBS is produced from ultra-purified extract of high-CBD hemp plant extracts, and are certified free of THC.
If your pet is a nervous traveller, having their regular dose of Creature Comforts CBD prior to travel can help. Travelling with CBD to some destinations is possible, but we would advise you to be very careful and make sure CBD is allowed in your destination country. Generally, travelling to the US, UK and most of Europe with CBD is allowed, but travelling to most Asia-Pacific countries and African countries with CBD is not allowed.
We would advise you to check with your destination country prior to travel to make sure.

No. Creature Comforts CBD is certified free of THC, the product in marijuana that causes a high. It is not possible for your dog or cat to get high from Creature Comforts CBD, no matter how much they take. Note that CBD is designed to aid in relaxation, sleep and reduce anxiety. Dogs who take CBD may seem more relaxed. This is normal and desired, but they're not feeling drunk or high.
Creature Comforts CBD comes from certified-US farm grown hemp in North Carolina, America and is extracted from the hemp plant in dedicated ISO and GMP certified production facilities.
CBD Safety
We do not recommend using CBD if your dog is pregnant.
CBD is very safe and studies have shown CBD to support a number of medical conditions, but if your pet does have underlying disease, illness or is on any medications, we'd recommend discussing with your vet first.
CBD has been shown to be highly beneficial for patients with epilepsy and for reducing or preventing seizures. In fact, a CBD medication is registered with the FDA for use in humans with seizures.
It would be very unlikely for CBD to be causing seizures, but if your pet is having seizures for any reason, or there is an increase in seizure frequency, we would recommend that you contact your veterinarian to discuss.
CBD is very safe and interactions are rare, but it is always best to check. If your pet is taking other medications, especially those with relaxing, anti-epileptic or sedative effects, we'd recommend you discuss CBD with your vet. If your vet approves of giving CBD to your pet, we'd recommend you start off by giving half of the regular recommended dose and then increasing to recommended levels if needed.
CBD has been shown to be safe, even at doses many times the recommended label dose. As of writing, there has never been a reported case of CBD overdose in a pet. On saying that, we would recommend you stick to the Creature Comforts CBD CBD usage, and dose your pet as they need. CBD does not cause addition or dependence.
Each batch of Creature Comforts CBD is also extensively tested to ensure purity, and is certified free from pesticides, toxins and THC.
All Creature Comforts CBD products undergo a consumer user trial under the supervision of Dr. David Gething to confirm safety, efficacy and affability.
CBD Usage
The ideal dose of CBD for each pet depends on a wide range of variables including size, tolerance and conditions. It’s important to know that every individual metabolizes CBD differently.
We recommend you begin with 1x daily either in the evening if your dog has a hard time sleeping, or in the morning if your dog has a hard time with separation pet anxiety, leash aggression, stranger danger and the like. Make sure you are giving them CBD with food, this will help it's efficacy.
If after 7 days you aren't seeing any improvement in your dog's condition, please increase the dose to 2x daily, 12 hour apart. It may take some testing to determine what the right amount is for your pet, based on their needs.
One drop of The Wellness Oil from the included dropper contains 0.5mg of CBD. The standard dose is 0.5mg per kilogram bodyweight of your dog, which means that you can dose The Wellness Oil at 1 drop per kilogram bodyweight.
Absolutely. CBD in cats has been shown to have supportive benefits for pet anxiety, behaviour, stress, joints and skin health. Cats are a little different to dogs, and they tend to have a less steady absorption of CBD than dogs. We recommend starting off with The Wellness Oil from Creature Comforts CBD, and giving 2 drops of the CBD tincture once daily.
If after 5 days the effect is too mild, you may increase the dose to twice daily, given in the morning and evening. Please note that CBD may take up to 1 hour to have the desired effect.
Yes, we recommend that you start at the recommended dose, but if you feel your dog is not feeling the benefits, you could increase to giving your dog the same amount twice daily, tweleve hours apart. CBD is very safe, and if needed your pet can stay on a higher dose within this recommended range. If you are unsure, please consult your vetrinarian or our pet concierge at hello@creaturecomfortscbd.com
If you miss a dose you should give the next dose as planned on the regular schedule. Do not increase the dose or double dose to make up for the missed dose.
No, CBD has absolutely no addictive effect, nor does it cause dependance or tolerance.
Overdosing on CBD is unlikely, even at doses much higher than recommended. If a dog has much more than the recommended dose they may become sedated and sleepy. We would recommend contacting your veterinarian if your pet accidentally consumes too much CBD or your pet displays unusual behaviour or symptoms.
Generally, side effects are rare although occasionally pets can develop soft stools or diarrhea if the CBD is given on an empty stomach.
For dogs: We recommend clients start with one dose of CBD per day for their dog, given at 0.5mg per kilogram of dog bodyweight. If you're using our Wellness Oil, this works out to 0.5ml per 10kg of body weight. CBD absorbs best if given with or after a small snack. Start CBD in the evening first to monitor how the dog adjusts to the supplement. If after 5 days the effect is too mild, you may increase the dose to twice daily, given in the morning and evening. Please note that CBD may take up to 90 minutes to have the desired effect.
For cats: We recommend clients start with one dose of CBD per day for their cat, given at 0.2mg of CBD per kilogram of bodyweight. If you're using our Wellness Oil, this equates to around 1-2 drops from the pipette for an average sized cat. CBD absorbs best if given with or after a small snack. Start CBD in the evening first to monitor how the cat adjusts to the supplement. If after 5 days the effect is too mild, you may increase the dose to twice daily, given in the morning and evening. Please note that CBD may take up to 90 minutes to have the desired effect.
We would recommend giving your pet CBD a maximum of twice daily, between 8-12 hours between doses
Creature Comforts CBD will generally have an effect within 30 minutes of dosing, although peak effect may be slower if your pet has had a large meal just before giving him CBD. Please note if your pet has recently started CBD supplements, it can take up to one week for blood CBD levels to stabilise and see desired results. We would suggest you try at the recommended starting dose and continue for up to 7 days. If you feel the effect is not strong enough you can try gradually increasing the amount of CBD given (up to double the recommended starting dose), or give the CBD twice daily. If you find your pet feels too relaxed and mellow, try reducing the amount given to half the recommended starting dose.
CBD can be taken up to 2x daily or at particular times of day, depending on the reason it is being used. CBD can also often be taken upon onset of particular conditions such as pain and anxiety. It may take up to 1.5 hours to work.
Ideally, give your pet their CBD following a meal. Otherwise, a healthy high-fat snack like a dog treat around the time you give the CBD will significantly help absorption.
We recommend that you start with The Wellness Oil. This is a general formula designed to be appropriate for most pets, and to support a wide range of issues. If you'd like to discuss in detail, please contact us at help@creaturecomfortscbd.com
Creature Comforts CBD products are designed to be tasty and enjoyed by pets. Most dogs and cats will readily eat the CBD oil on a small snack, or even straight from the tincture dropper. If your pet is very picky you may need to lift their lip and use the CBD dropper to gently squirt the mixture inside their cheek.
Creature Comfort CBD should help support your pet's anxiety joints, skin and general health. It should have a noticeable effect, but your pet should not feel very tired or drowsy. Different pets can respond differently, and some animals need more CBD than others to achieve the desired effect.

Alternately, if you feel two issues are significant, many owners choose to purchase one of each formula and alternate the use with one formula one day, and the other formula the next.
